Resonance Grants

Overview

The Resonance Grants program encourages creative partnerships between companies and practitioners based in France (including French overseas territories) and Australia by removing barriers to creative mobility, to inspire international exchanges, collaborations, creations and professional development in the fields of Visual Arts and Performing Arts (theatre, dance, music, interdisciplinary, etc.)

Types of Projects

The Resonance Grants program aims to support:

• France-based and French organisations collaborating with Australian profesionnal practitioners
• Australia-based and Australian organisations collaborating with French profesionnal practitioners

Eligible projects may include:

• Solo exhibitions
• Group exhibitions
• Touring exhibitions
• Public commissions
• Residency projects
• Artistic publications

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must be:

• Legally registered entities in their country of operation
• Based in Australia or in France, including French overseas territories
• Not-for-profit organisations such as:
  • Museums
  • Festivals/Biennals
  • Art centres
  • Artist-run spaces
  • Public or non-commercial galleries
  • Alternative spaces
  • Educational institutions
  • Others

Eligibility period:

• Projects must be realised and presented to the public within the eligibility period (18 months after notification)
• Projects may be at development stage but cannot have already been completed at the time of application

Are not eligible:

• Artists themselves
• For-profit/commercial organisations (e.g. private galleries)
• Organisations with no legal status
• Organisations whose activity sits outside the purpose of the grants
• Applicants not based either in France or in Australia

Selection criteria

Preferably, projects will focus on:

• The creation of new works and artistic mobility in new contexts
• Fostering collaboration and exchange between artists and institutions
• Highlighting regional diversity and the richness of local contexts
• Supporting dissemination of knowledge and exchange of best practices both for professionals and the general public

Projects will be evaluated based on:

• Alignment with FACEF’s mission, artistic quality, innovation, and their potential to develop lasting French Australian connections
• Ability to demonstrate how the grant will support the applicant’s and practitioner’s professional development
• Ability to demonstrate the importance of mobility and exchange to the project
• Ability to demonstrate genuine collaborations between the applicant and the artist(s)
• Ability to demonstrate the project’s feasibility and practical viability

Application Process

Step 1. Prepare Your Application

As the online application form cannot be saved, we strongly recommend preparing your responses and supporting documents in advance. To help you, we have provided an Application Template (Word) and a Budget Template (Excel).

All applications must be submitted in English.

Required Documents

• Detailed Project Description: A detailed presentation of the proposed project (maximum 1,100 words).
• Project Budget: An estimated project budget (in AUD, excluding GST/TVA) outlining all anticipated income, total project expenditure, and the amount requested from FACEF.
• Applicant Organisation Profile: A document presenting the applicant organisation.
• Collaborator(s)/artist(s) Biography or CV: A biography and/or CV of the proposed collaborator(s), including relevant professional experience and previous work.
• Letter of Commitment from the collaborator(s)/artist(s): A written commitment from the proposed collaborator(s).
• Supporting Visual Material: Supporting material relevant to your application, such as portfolios, videos, images, recordings or other documentation.
• Additional Supporting Material (optional): Any additional information you believe will strengthen your application.

Before submitting your documents, please ensure that:

• Each file is named using the following format: Resonance_VA26_ApplicantName_DocumentName
• All documents are attached to one email. If the size of the files exceed the volume an email allows, you may send us a link to access the documents. If you do so, please make sure that the link does not expire less than a week after the call closes (2 September).
• Your email is received by the application deadline

Important: Your application will only be considered complete once both the online application form and all required supporting documents have been received. Applications that are incomplete or submitted after the deadline will not be eligible.

Performing Arts

Types of Projects

The Resonance Grants program aims to connect mid-scale performing arts institutions and professionals through meaningful exchanges that grow the French and Australian sectors, bolster collaborations and encourage public outcomes.

Resonance – Performing Arts supports:

• French organisations collaborating with an Australian organisation, or Australian professional practitioners
• Australian organisations collaborating with a French organisation, or French professional practitioners

Eligible projects may include:

• Creative research and development of new performing arts works
• Presentation of performing arts works
• Showcases, forums, and public performances
• Artist residencies and cross-cultural collaborations
• Community engagement and participatory projects
• Professional development, mentorships, and workshops

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be:

• Legally registered entities in their country of operation
• Based in Australia or in France including French overseas territories
• Not-for-profit such as:
  • Theatre/Dance/Music/Interdisciplinary company
  • Music ensemble/orchestra
  • Public institution (national theatre, state company, cultural centre…)
  • Artist collective
  • Festivals/Biennials
  • Training institution/conservatoire
  • Other

Applicants must have:

• Identified a partner in the other country, with whom they wish to work with (the partner can be another organisation or an individual practitioner). The partner must provide a letter of commitment/support.
• Identified a project with that partner, with whom they wish to collaborate
• Defined a clear and genuine partnership with the destination country

Eligibility period:

• Projects must take place within the eligibility period (18 months after notification)
• Projects may be at development stage but cannot have already been completed at the time of application
