Call for Entries: Burnie Print Prize 2027
Entries are now open for the Burnie Print Prize 2027—one of Australia’s longest-running and most respected awards dedicated to printmaking.
Artists from across the country are invited to submit work for this nationally significant acquisitive prize, which continues to champion excellence, innovation and technical skill in contemporary print practice. With a long history of attracting hundreds of entries each year, the Burnie Print Prize offers a highly regarded platform for both emerging and established artists to present their work to a broad audience.
We welcome submissions across all printmaking techniques, from traditional processes such as etching, lithography and relief printing, to digital and expanded practices that push the boundaries of the medium.
Finalists will be selected for exhibition at Burnie Arts, forming a vibrant and diverse showcase of contemporary Australian printmaking. A major acquisitive prize will be awarded, with the winning work joining the Burnie collection and contributing to the ongoing legacy of the prize.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this celebrated national exhibition.
The Burnie Print Prize was established in 2007 to:
- Develop the Gallery’s print collection
- Present the best of contemporary printmaking
- Support artists who work with the print medium
- Foster innovation in the print medium
- Promote an appreciation of the fine art of printmaking
- Recognize and celebrate craftsmanship
- Explore possibilities of the medium in contemporary practice
Entries are open only to print medium artworks. This includes artworks created through techniques such as relief printing, intaglio printing, planographic printing, and stencil printing. Digital reproductions of print artworks are also eligible for submission, provided the original artwork was created using traditional printmaking methods.
Artworks created using other mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art (excluding digital reproductions of print artworks), photography, and mixed media are not eligible for entry.
