Karen Brown

Karen Brown is an artist based in Albury NSW on the banks of the beautiful Murray River.

She is inspired by the ordinary, the obvious and the overlooked. Her realistic and detailed artworks encourage you to look closely at your environment and be amazed at the tiny details in everyday objects, both natural and man-made.

Karen paints in acrylics, but her passion is drawing. Using graphite pencils, fine liner pens or coloured pencils she creates drawings that appear almost photographic, that invite you in to study them closer and appreciate the textures and colours of our world.

In recent years, Karen has begun holding workshops, along with private tutoring, to teach coloured pencil, graphite pencil and ink stippling techniques to others. She hopes to develop the interest in and change the perception of coloured pencils amongst the arts and wider community.

Karen is a Resident Artist at Art Gallery on Ovens in Wangaratta and her works hang in both public and private collections. She recently won a major award for
